Two boys told a friend were not coming to school today just minutes before they died

The four siblings were rushed to hospital yesterday morning following a major domestic incident at their semi-detached house in Sheffield, but their brothers, 13 and 14, could not be saved.

As many as 15 police cars, at least four ambulances and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance were called out to reports of concerns for safety at a property in Gregg House Road, Shiregreen, yesterday at 7.30am.

Post mortem examinations to establish how the boys came about their deaths were expected to take place yesterday.

It was claimed the 13- and 14-year-old boys sent a message to a friend saying they were ill on a Nintendo Switch at 7.00am – just half an hour before police were called to their house.

A neighbour said the boys messaged their friend saying: Were not coming to school today because were feeling sick.

Officers have not revealed how the brothers, who were aged 13 and 14, died. Post-mortem examinations were due to be carried out yesterday evening.

Speculation on social media suggested they had been suffocated or poisoned, but police have not confirmed this.

The four surviving children, two boys aged 11 and ten, and two girls, aged three and just seven months, were conscious when police arrived and are not thought to have life-threatening injuries.

Last night, relatives of the children, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were too upset to comment.
