News has surfaced this week that Aston Villa want Brentford boss Dean Smith as their new manager should Steve Bruce get the sack.

The latter has come under major scrutiny this season with Villa lingering in an underwhelming 15th place in the Championship, with only three wins from their opening ten games.

According to Alan Nixon, the West Midlands side would like Smith as their new boss, after doing a fantastic job at the helm of Brentford over the last few years – the Bees currently sit sixth in the table having only lost twice this season.

The former Walsall boss has transformed the Bees into genuine promotion contenders, and has got the West London side playing some unbelievable football, despite a slump of late.

Many Villa fans have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions on this latest story, and here at FLW, we look at the best views coming from the Villa Park faithful…

In the longer term I think Smith is our best choice, if we can get in the correct staff to work with him, and set up the right scouting system, given time I think he'd get it right. #AVFC

I thank Brucey for what hes done with us, he dealt with the pain of losing both parents and Ill always admire him greatly for that and we came so close to promotion but Dean Smith is the man to take us forward – young, plays attacking football, and a Villa fan! #avfc

Dean Smith? I do not think he is the right man for our club although I love his work with Brentford and his beautiful way of playing. If we have already ambitious, why we went to the same coach in the league and direct debit coach to us! #AVFC

Dean Smith would crawl over broken glass for the Villa job. His Dad was a steward at VP and was also in Rotterdam and Smith and all his family are Villa fans aswell. Forget the others. Still think Rogers could be an option too #AVFC
