image/svg+xml Why you can trust Sky News Three people have died after a driver arrested on suspicion of drink driving collided with their vehicle while going the wrong way down a slip road in Peterborough.
Cambridgeshire Police said officers were called to the collision on Fletton Parkway, at the sliproad to Stanground on the westbound carriageway, at just after midnight on Sunday.
The offending vehicle, driven by a man who has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of drink and/or drugs, hit the other car head-on.
Cambridgeshire Police said the man drove on the wrong side of a slip road to Stanground from Fletton Parkway shortly after midnight.
Liz Groom, the chair of the Cambridgeshire Police Federation, tweeted: “Such sad news. Thoughts with the families of those who have died.
“Also with the officers and other emergency service colleagues who attended the incident and delivered the terrible messages to loved ones. One of the hardest and most difficult parts of our job that you never forget.”

The two-car crash happened just after midnight at the slip road to Stanground off the Fletton Parkway in the Cambridgeshire town.
One man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Pictures from the scene showed a severely crushed small silver car and a dark pickup-truck with a smashed bonnet and windscreen.
In a statement Cambridge Constabulary said: “One vehicle had driven down the slip road the wrong way and collided head-on with another vehicle, killing all three of its occupants.”
Liz Groom, Chair of Cambridge Police Federation, offered her condolences to those affected by the horror crash.
