Police are investigating the assault, which a witness says happened in the driveway of a home on Hurlingham Road about 11.30am.

"The victim was struck to the side of the head with such force he was knocked unconscious and fell to the ground hitting his head a second time," reporter Jerrie Demasi said.

A witness claims he saw three men standing together before one punched another in the face, knocking the man in his 40s to the ground.

Police were called to a public housing block of flats on Mill Point Road around midday following reports a man in his 40s had received serious injuries.

The police invesitagion is continuing with detectives focused on a block of flats on the corner of Millpoint and Hurlingham roads.

On Wednesday afternoon, police were yet to confirm the nature of their investigations but confirmed no one was in custody over the incident.
