Police ID woman killed in SUV-pedestrian accident near Newport

NEWPORT, Pa. (WHTM) – The Perry County coroner's office has identified a woman who died in a pedestrian crash Friday evening.

Candee Ettinger, 40, of Newport, was struck in the 500 block of South Fourth Street in Oliver Township around 7:30 p.m. and died at the scene.

State police Monday identified Candee Ettinger as the 40-year-old pedestrian who was struck by an SUV and killed Friday night near Newport.

Ettinger, a Newport resident, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 7:30 p.m. accident in the 500 block of South Fourth Street in Oliver Township.

Police have not identified the 37-year-old woman who was driving the SUV. The investigation of the accident is continuing.

A friend established a GoFundMe page on behalf of the family of Ettinger, a married mother of two. Ettinger had no life insurance, according to that posting.

“To know Candee was synonymous with love and laughter. She could brighten any room with her beautiful smile,” the posting states.
