Firefighters tackle attic fire at a house in Newport

A FAMILY had to be rushed from their home after a fire broke out in the attic, leaving the roof gutted.

Firefighters were called to the house in Playford Crescent, Ringland, at 6.41pm on Saturday, September 29.

Six fire engines were called to the scene and spent three hours putting out the flames, leaving the scene at 9.35pm.

A spokesman for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they received a call at 5.08am to a fire on Saltney High Street involving two vehicles.

The blaze had spread to the downstairs window of a nearby house which suffered 100 per cent smoke damage and five per cent fire damage.

Two crews attended and used two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a thermal image camera.
