Bake Off: Prue Leith forced to PULL OUT of show due to sickness

The Great British Bake Off fans were distraught on Tuesday night after it was revealed that Prue Leith had pulled out of the show due to sickness.

Taking to Twitter in droves, fans questioned what had happened to the cake expert when she failed appear for the showstopper segment, leaving Paul Hollywood to judge the bakers spice biscuit chandeliers solo.

It came as fans were also left in tears after Terry Hartill and Karen Wright were eliminated, as the former spoke candidly about how the show helped him in getting over the death of his wife.

Poor Terry, hes in bits. This experience has clearly meant a lot to him after the loss of his wife. Karen sheds some tears too, Im gutted for them both.

It always seems rather out-of-character when dear old cosy Bake Off has to do something as ruthless as sending two contestants home at once. But after Terrys sickie last week meant nobody was eliminated, we needed to go from nine bakers to seven – which certainly added…

But sadly we have to say goodbye my friend to two bakers, because tonight is the night where 9 becomes 7.

Sadly, there was no sign of Victoria Sponge Beckham, Melanie Brownie or Emma Bun Tin. Nobody wore a Geri-style Union Jack dress or cracked puns like Two Become Bun. Sometimes, readers, I despair.

Great British Bake Off hit with ANOTHER surprise absence as two bakers are sent home

Leaving Bake Off this week are…KAREN AND TERRY. Ah, thats a shame. They both had a rough weekend in th Bake Off tent, but its the right decision.

So who will it be? My guess is Karen and Terry to go home, and Kim-Joy for a well-deserved Star Baker. Daft challenge though; biscuits are for eating immediately, cant be doing with stringing them up.

FOR the first time in the Great British Bake Off tent it was spice week, and competition was fierce as two contestants left the show.

Time for Showstopper judging! Prues not there, but Paul isnt usually interested in what she has to say anyway.

Because one of the contestants was sick last week nobody left the show, so the bottom two who didn’t spice things up were out this week.

Manons chandelier looks amazing, but Paul isnt getting the spice he wants. The pattern on Dans butterflies is exquisite, but the biscuits dont have enough cinnamon. Rubys peacock looks like its been drowned in a swamp, but her cardamom biscuits are delicious. Rahuls chandelier is wonderfully colourful, albeit a bit messy in places. The flavour is great though. Karens biscuits are a bit chunky, and the flavours arent quite working. Brionys biscuits are unusual – Paul has never had anything like it, but doesnt say if this is a good thing.

OMG, Kim-Joys chandelier is spectacular – its got icicles and snow scenes and everything, and her biscuits are perfection. Terrys Christmas scene cant really follow that, sadly. Jons birthday chandelier is a bit messy, but his biscuits taste great.

Assembly time! Biscuits are being strung to the biscuit structures. Jons biscuits are breaking, Rubys ganache isnt holding, and Terrys turtle dove has broken its neck. Its chandelier carnage.

Karen is having a terrible day – one of her biscuits has broken on the floor, and Terrys swans are a-burning. Not sure these two can survive spice week.

Kim-Joy is piping individual snow scenes on her biscuits. I think she might be one of my favourite Bake Off contestants ever.

Rubys making a peacock chandelier, featuring cardamom. DRINK. Meanwhile Brionys chandelier is turmeric latte flavour. DRINK. More cardamom from Rahul, who is making 150 biscuits, because he loves nothing more than being under pressure.

Like Kim-Joy, Terry is going for a 12 days of Christmas theme. Hes working on the maids-a-milking right now, presumably his swans will be a-swinging.

Jons chandelier features raspberry and chilli jam, and is designed to celebrate his daughters 21st birthday. Dan has declared the entire challenge ridiculous, which isnt endearing himself to Paul. Loving Dans sass.

Kim-Joy is making a festive chandelier, with snowflakes and festive scenes. Manons gone for an Art Deco theme, which reminds her of growing up in France, because Manon is actually 100 years old.

Karen is making her biscuits from liquorice and cardamom. I hate liquorice, and anything that tastes of liquorice or aniseed – dill, fennel, ouzo and their evil friends all make me boak. Dont think I could even smell that without heaving.

Great British Bake Off viewers were left emotional after Terry says baking helped him cope with the loss of his wife

This weeks Showstopper is a fiddly one – our bakers have to make a spiced biscuit chandelier that can be hung as a centerpiece over a table. This is not a thing, but Im already thinking of knocking one out for Christmas. Wont actually do it, obvs, but its a nice thought all the same.

What happened to Terrys wife in Bake Off as he breaks down in tears?

The internet tells me that a mamool is a mamool, a mamoul or a maamoul. Either way, its a warm-blooded vertebrate that gives birth to live young.

So what did the judges think? They all look like Play-doh to me. Jons have too much flavour, and if weve learned anything in life, its that too much of something is bad enough.

Theres a lot of great style in the tent today. Prues nails, Rubys lipstick, Kim-Joy and Manons rainbow hair, Karens spotty top. Go Bake Off ladies.

Terrys fig rolls have melted, and theyve only got one minute left. Karens arent looking too special either. Those two are in trouble this week.

Why is Prue Leith not on The Great British Bake Off tonight?

Nobody knows what theyre doing, but it seems to involve pushing a walnut-filled ball into a mould. Karen has used the wrong one, and shes not having a great day.

Not sure what the tongs are for, other than to make a pretty pattern. Quite a niche kitchen tool, mamool tongs.
