While most of the transfer speculation in November is fanciful rumors of star players there is occasionally a story that seems more likely. Today the Mirror are reporting that the Reds are eyeing up Belgian forward Cyril Ngonge as a potential signing.
There is plenty of transfer interest in the 18-year-old striker. He has bagged four goals in four games in the youth Champions League against Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and Monaco – no small feat.
Arsenal are named as the other Premier League sniffing round him as well as Atletico, Inter Milan, Lille and Valencia. If Liverpool do decide to pursue him they would move to the front of the queue as the biggest side off the back of their Champions League run last season and undefeated start to the Premier League campaign.
Report: Liverpool send scouts to watch in-demand teenage forward Cyril Ngonge
The rapid youngster can play anywhere a long the frontline but has primarily been deployed as a central striker for the Club Brugge youth sides. He is left footed so would be comfortable on the left-wing. However we know Jurgen Klopp likes his wingers to cut inside on to their favorite foot so playing on the right maybe an option for him also.
Liverpool appear to be in the market for another attacking option to challenge Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. It appears to be that Daniel Sturridge is the only trusted option to play centrally for Firmino and there is no other natural winger in the first team squad to push Mane and Salah.
We are not anticipating any big signings in the January window but a young up-and-coming star like Cyril Ngonge makes a lot of sense for a winter purchase.

The 18-year-olds form in the Champions Youth League – which has seen him score four goals in as many games – is understood to have attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe.
The Mirror reports that Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs to have sent scouts to watch the youngster in action this season.
