The whistler hurt himself during the match between Galatasaray and Schalke in the Champions League on Tuesday night and will be replaced by Alan Muir.

His absence comes one day after Rangers issued a withering statement about the referees performance in the recent match with St Mirren.

Collum controversially sent off Daniel Candeias for a second bookable offence in injury time, though replays showed the Portuguese winger didnt do much wrong.

Rangers appealed the suspension on the grounds of mistaken identity, but when that was knocked back they issued a formal complaint with the SFA regarding Collum.

In a club statement, the Ibrox side went as far as to suggest there was an underlying issue that was causing the official to make errors in judgement during Rangers matches.

Rangers launched an incredible attack on the whistler yesterday and are set to file a formal complaint in the wake of Saturdays Daniel Candeias row

WILLIE COLLUM has been ruled out of tonight’s Premiership encounter between Aberdeen and Hibs with a groin injury.

The whistler should have taken charge of the Pittodrie clash, but has been forced to pull out with the injury.

Scotland’s No1 referee suffered the setback in Tuesday’s Champions League clash between Schalke and Galatasaray.

Alan Muir will now be the man in the middle as Derek McInnes’ side welcomes the Hibees to Granite City.

Rangers launched an incredible attack on Collum yesterday in the wake of Saturday’s Daniel Candeias row.

Gers are furious after their appeal was rejected over the second yellow card to winger Candeias against St Mirren.

And the Light Blues are set to file a formal complaint after accusing him of an “underlying issue” and claiming some of his SFA colleagues believe his judgment is flawed.

The Gers statement said: It defies belief that this same referee, who got it so blatantly wrong last Saturday, is awarded one of the biggest matches in Scottish football this weekend while Daniel is denied the right to go to his work.

Furthermore, it is understood that a number of people within the Scottish FA are in no doubt Mr Collums judgment was flawed and Rangers shall also now be submitting a formal complaint about the performance of this referee.”
